We flew in to South Bend for USC/ND game several days prior to the big game. It was raining with strong winds and cold. The day of the game it cleared and warmed up. We attended the game which was the first ND night game in 23 years with a kick off at 7:30 PM. As California natives we were dressed in our best foul weather gear, the locals were in Tee shirts and light weight jackets. It was not difficult to determine who were the USC fans--wearing red and bundled up for artic weather.
The days after the game were sunny and warm with a sight cooling breeze.
We departed South Bend on Thursday in fair weather, Friday we received a series of pictures of a hail storm from a local aquaintance .
I suspect I will never understand the midwest weather..

Indiana certainly has an over abundance in the of variety in weather, not certain about the spice...
Happy to be home and watching the games on wide screen TV in the comfort of my home-- However, there is nothing to compare with attending a ND game in South Bend...Especially when USC from way out west clobbers ND on their home turf!
Well power went out here in NH yesterday around 6:30 and they are talking a week to get it back. I live in an apartment building and we are with out power or heat. We stayed in the camper last night and looks like again to night. It is stored at a friends and he has a generator very happy I got the 4 season package lol
We lost power for 12hrs (no lights, no heat, no water). We had about 2" but a few miles from our house and 500' higher up on the ridge got 4"-6". The trees were hanging low and ontop of the power lines.
Sunday was warm and most of the snow is gone.

Yea, that game wasn't pretty for us but we love Notre Dame football anyway. We are not just fair weather fans. Go ND!
Update #3 We are entering our 3rd day with no electric.
This was in many ways a freak storm for us. Normally we would get NO snow until December. Rarely, if ever would we get snow before Thanksgiving. This was a wet, heavy snow that stuck to all of the trees, most of which still had leaves on. My son & I went out today to get gasoline for the generator (had to go 8 miles to find a station with power) and kerosene (no luck on that one at all). Most places look like the tree pruner guys just went through and lopped of branches then let them lay. Other places look like a giant weed-whacker went through and took them out at the trunk. And still others simply toppled over - roots and all - due to the very wet and soft ground.
We have enough kero for another day without heat. Pa Power & Light is saying they are aware of the problem (NO KIDDING!) and to call back in 3 hours if service hasn't been restored. I've been hearing that since yesterday morning. Later, everyone.

I'm so sorry you have no power STILL! But I am glad you are getting by with a generator. I can't imagine the people without a generator. Some can't afford it. At least they can put their food in the snow. But that doesn't give solution to staying warm.
Speedy restoration to ya. Hang in there.
