I searched and didnt find anything on this...I have a skylight directly over my bed, and if I lay down for a while in the afternoon, which I need to do once in a while, it is way to bright in there. Does anyone know of an after market blackout shade that can be mounted over these to block out the light? Thanks for any input here...Tim

I have used in the bedroom area a plastic corrugated material very much like cardboard. It's the material sign makers use for a lot of there small outdoor signs. You can buy it from most any sign shop and comes in many colors. To hold it over the skylight use those plastic clips used to hold a mirror.

Go to an upholstery shop and get yourself a piece of foam material and cut it a little bigger than the opening. When you want to block out the sunlight, simply push it into the opening. Camping World sells them but you can get the same thing for less than half the cost at the upholstery shop. A sympathetic owner may simply give you a scrap piece......Dennis

This is what I did but also used spray glue on the top side of the foam and glues black polyethylene. This really blacks it out. I've used the same pieces for 12 years with three different fifth wheels.

If it is the standard 14x14 rv places sell vent pillows to plug the hole. If it is larger, like the shower size, the shades for entry doors and velcro work well. Anything that blocks all the light will block all the airflow as well.

At the time, there was nothing on the market that did what I wanted it to do.......and that was to block out the light from the roof vents that did not result in a separate piece that I had to store when not being used.......such as a pillow or velcro stuck on square cover.......

So, I went to Home Depot and purchased an off the shelf roller shade that was more than double the width of what I needed.........I then disassembled the shade and cut it down into 2 smaller shades.....I then built a plywood box to house the roller and covered them with matching ceiling carpet......all in all, it was a fun DIY project!

I cut a piece of cardboard from a box and wedged it in there. I wish I could remember the brand of Irish Whiskey that is printed on the box so you could do it right.
