Thinking this should be a non problem, however, better check before I go forward.

Never seen this in a travel trailer, however must be, perhaps in 5th wheelers or motorhomes.

Anyone installed a programmable setback thermostat, like a Honeywell programmable Pro4000 thermostat, which can be set to have the furnace/ac system come on and off automatically?

Personally, I am tired of having to get up after a good nights' sleep and manually turn on the furnace to heat up the trailer. Especially when we are camping in the cooler months or cold evenings.

Seems so logical, this kind of unit works so well in our home.

Anyone tried this or heard of it being done?

Thanks,
-- JP

In general, any thermostat that has batteries in it, and that says it will work with both 24 volt and millivolt systems will work fine.

So there is a really good reason why I have never heard of one being installed. Given we do a fair amount of dry camping, don't know why I did not think of battery vs AC power.

Thank you for turning the light back on.

However, perhaps there are units that could work in both conditions and someone out there knows about them.

Hunter (at least used to) make one. The problem is, you lose the two-speed fan option with the Hunter.

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

I have this model in our MH. Hunter 7-Day Programmable Thermostat

Works good for my Suburban furnace and Dometic AC.
