Last week the gps warning box said the internal battery was discharged
so ordered a Batt from amazon, and found a vidio on youtube on how to replace it. I would charge it all day, leave it sit off over night and it would be discharged
Was easy to replace and now it holds a charge, unit is 4 years old, a navi 260
Garmin wanted
$79. plus Batt est. $25.total over $100.
A new unit would be $140 to $300.
Batt cost $21.
Maps are 4 years old but will keep it for 4 more years and than get a new one.
I've done the same thing with my Nuvi 750. The battery came from eBay and included a torx screwdriver to remove the two screws on the bottom, and a tool to separate the top from the bottom of the case.
