CCleaner 3.11 plays nice with Avast, but CCleaner 3.12 wants to delete Advast 6.0.1289. Do I have something set wrong? Have not run into this before. System is win 7, 64 Sp1. Any ideas?

You mean "Avast" of course and not "Advast"

Check out the Avast Forum HERE. It might give you a clue.

I had a bad experience with Avast.

I loaded it and didnt like the popup from the task bar. I also wanted to use it as a scan tool rather than real time protection.

I tried to turn it off. Avast would not allow me to do so. I sent into the System settings to change from Auto to manual - again it would not allow me. I tried Glary Disk Utilities with their startup menu module and again it would not allow me to turn it off.

I do not like programs that are developed to fight against the user to that extent. I removed it completely and will not use it again.

There are lots of other free programs.

CCCleaner is very "User configurable" I have no problem with it and AVG or Avast (I use both depending on the computer)

You can tell it to ignore specific files, or to delete specific files. I think it is on the OPTIONS button.

Click OPTIONS, then EXCLUDE and type in the path to Avast
normally C:\Program files\Avast\
Or something like that
(you may copy the path from the "properties" section of the Avast icon)

Right click on the Avast Icon.. Choose Properties, General (Should be default tab) and you should see the path.. Copy it.. Paste it into the exclude but back space out the file name... in fact backspace out as far as you can and still be exclusive to AVAST

You should be left with C:\Program Files\Something\

Where something is the name of the first folder exclusive to AVAST.

You may need to go into Application Data too.. Use ANALYZE to check for any reference to AVAST after you exclude the program.

Nothin adds excitment like something that is none of your business

lol Of course I should have said Avast..!! senior moment.. never said my fingers could spell...lol

Avast 6 is listed on the Apps page and checked. Have been running ccleaner 3.11 with avast 6 for some time now, without a problem. If I download and install ccleaner 3.12, it will remove avast! I'll keep looking.......
