After both my heavy duty chassis batteries failed two weeks ago (both were the 950 cc Interstate ones) - I got to checking and up to now I always thought my Inverter was connected to provide a constant trickle input.
Found out that is not the case and I believe I would like to correct that.
When I owned the Tourmaster I installed a small cheap little trickle charger for my chassis batteries and never had an issue - however I always wondered just how long the cheapies lasted.
Anyway - thinking of installing something now, but am wondering whether or not a solar trickle charger system might be better. Then, of course, not sure for the wattage one should put in for the twin 950 cc batteries.
It would be easier to just buy and mount an AC powered trickle charger as the electrical input is close, and the solar would need to be installed on the roof and leaks snaked down.
Just was wondering how many of you out there had considered, or done this same thing and what you decided to do.
Thank you in advance
God Bless

I bought a Craftsman battery maintainer. It has clamps, ring connectors and a cigarette lighter plug. I plug it into the cigarette lighter. The converter maintains the house batteries but not the chassis battery. This way both are covered.

Bill; I installed a "Trik-L-Start" 3 years ago and have never had anymore battery problems. Very easy install and inexpensive. Also put a toad charge on my toad to keep it's battery up while towing. kdk

Dittos for the "Trik-L-Start". I've this on my coach for a number of years now and have never needed to use the auxillery start switch since.

As mentioned by others here, The Tric-L-Start is a great product. I have it installed on mine and all is well.

Tric-L-start. Hook it up and forget about it. If you add a solar system later, no changes are required.
