We always stay at Lakewood when in that area. My sister has a trailer house at Lakewood so its real convenient to stay there. Have stayed in the Lakewood Villas on the Lake a few times too - those are nice... One of these trips however I want to stay at Huntington Beach State Park... Lots of ocean side there with trails and not that far away from LakeWood. Everyone I have talked too that has stayed at Huntington Beach really like the place. Sometimes down that south side strip the airplanes get alittle noisy coming and going to the big airport there. We have stayed at the Springmaid Beach Resort a few times over the years and the wheels are down and you can see the pilots in the airplanes there haha... Even that wasnt bad just strange looking up and seeing the big airplanes coming in for a landing...

We like Ocean Lakes during the cold weather months. It has an indoor pool which is a home run for the kids. That may be no use to you.

Willow Tree has several sites with hot tubs. That's where we'll probably go next for a winter beach trip. Willow Tree isn't on the beach. Its about 10-15 minutes inland of North Myrtle. But its the nicest campground of all the MB campgrounds.

Not that any of them are bad. Its just the nicest of the nice.

My wife and I are going to Myrtle Beach State Park in Jauary for 30 days (we're retired). They have a monthly snowbird special that works out to about $18 a night with full hookups (30amp only). We have stayed here before....drove through the others in the area and for us this is our favorite. You can pull in wifi if you are near the camp store where you check in.

Just got home from MB Travel Park. Been going there for several years after a recommendation from a friend. Nice park, well maintained, good sized sites and friendly staff. Works for us.

we just came back fdrom pirateland and the ocean water was still doable. of course it can be windy when your right on the beach, but at the state parks you won't be close to the beach. pirateland has the little roof covered pavillions at the sites close to the beach , so if it rains you have some outside shelter.

We actually were able to get wifi with my iPad2 down near the ocean this past September.

I used to fight the battle of whether or not I would pick up WIFI. I now have the verizon MIFI external box that allows five users and works anywhere you can pick up a VERIZON Cell phone signal. Solved that problem big time. The MIFI is small and compact and will run 4-hours on internal battery. Fits in shirt pocket for sitting out around the beachs. Then everyones iphones and tablets with you works great around you getting on the internet. It has something like a 50-foot radius WIFI hot Spot coverage area (password protected).
