Any recommendations on an alternative to the standard Onan oil? I am interested to know if there are any full synthetic options? Thanks.

That is likely rebadged brand name oil. Mobil 1 would be a good substitute.

15/40 looks like diesel oil. Is there a 10/30 option, or do they like the thicker oil for everything?

Most gasoline Onan engines are air cooled. They require a thicker oil.

Air cooled, splash lubricated, so it is understandable about the higher viscosity used.
