Need to make sure the wireless card in the XP machine supports the protocols and the levels of security needed. Many legacy PCI cards cannot do WPA2 for example.

I got 3 of these for my office staff to use while out in the field. Tested them on an old (4 years) laptop with XP on it. Worked fine.

Do you even see it on the available WiFi list to connect to it?

Or does it not connect after entering the pw? If that's the case, what sch911 says is probably the case....

Good luck!

Mitch

Mine works but I had the mifi before. Just click the name, key in the password, click always connect and away you go.

Check the security of your router and the mifi. I just had the same a week ago on test. Just make sure they match based on the oldest O/S desktop settings.

See this:

More chit-chat here:

- Check the desktop
- Tweak the Router
- Match the Mifi

It was awesome, but the 10GB limitation would have put us in the poor house.

I was born in Great Falls, Mt. My parents moved when I was 5. I found them when I was 10 - they were in California.

I'm thinking firewalled. Go to ...
Start,
Control Panel,
Network connections...

and see if it says "connected, firewalled"

Then check your exceptions. Go to...
Start
Control Panel,
Windows Firewall... and then look at the EXCEPTIONS tab.

If you have to... add it to the exceptions list and it should be able to connect and still be firewalled.

Still not sure whether it's the problem or not???
Turn your firewall off and see if you can get it to connect.

Mine runs fine on my XP. So the problem is in the set-up and I'm helpless in that area. But should not be a problem.

You will need to search and find a package from Microsoft to install on XP to get it to work with WPA2.
