My DH and I have a Chevy PU truck and pull a 29' TT (dry weight 5100 pounds. We use EZ-Pass and have now been overcharged TWICE by the Delaware Bay Port Authority when going over their bridges. We went over the Delaware Memorial Bridge last year, and this September we went over the Commodore Barry Bridge..each time being charged $30.00. The rate was supposed to be (I believe) in the $12 range. The first time they said we were incorrectly charged a commercial rate; the second time they gave us multiple reasons..first saying there was a rate increase, then they said we were charged for 5 axles, and then they said the PU was $5 but the TT was $25 . I had to call them 3 times to speak to someone who finally admitted that there was a problem. It ended up taking 5+ weeks to fix it but they have credited our account the $18 overcharge. When I asked what the correct charge should be I was given three different prices and their website was not much more explanatory! Just an FYI to keep an eye on your statements!.

Can you cover the EZ-Pass and pay as you go? Just a thought.

I'm still waiting for the bill from my trip through Kansas where they use cameras for out of state'rs like me. MH towing my Blazer, ... can't wait to see how they charge me.

It's amazing how progress brings finger pointing when looking for responsibility.

I knew when I saw the title of the thread which bridge it was. They burned us also. I made innumerable phone calls and had all kinds of assurances it would be corrected and it never was. I finally gave up when the phone costs exceeded the amount of the over charge.

Yep they have you and they know most people just pay and go its just not worth the hasall, Buy the way those prices are for paying cash. from the Delaware river bridge authority website

RV and Camper E-ZPass Alert

As a vehicle enters a Delaware Memorial Bridge toll lane, the toll system reads both the number of axles and the vehicle profile. If a customer is towing a trailer or is operating a large recreational vehicle and enters a dedicated E-ZPass lane, the system may register the transaction at a commercial rate. To eliminate the potential for a misclassification, the DRBA advises customers to pay the toll manually. The E-ZPass transponder must be removed before entering the lane and placed in the read proof bag during the transaction.

In addition, all E-ZPass customers should always check their statements to make sure that the charges are accurate and immediately report any discrepancies to their customer service center.

That is exactly why they encourage everyone to have EZ Pass and have your credit card on file to auto fill.
You are the 1 in 100,000 customers that actually looks at their statement.
It also gives them the ability to constantly raise tolls as the average EZ Pass user has NO idea how much the tolls are.

Our EZ-Pass transmitter is actually screwed onto our license plate on the front of our car and truck. Apparently our other vehicle has a windshield that is at a slant which cannot be correctly read when going through the tolls so they sent us the type that we need to attach to the plates. This (unfortunately) would make it too impractical to take off and on when going through the toll, so I guess I will continue to need to call them each time. Sometimes progress does not move forward..it seems to go backwards!.
