5th wheel not permanent. Is there a dish that has a more powerful satellite locating device. i can be camping right next to our friends and their satellite picks up the waves much quicker then ours
We have the Winegard Trav'ler HD dish and sometimes it seems as if it does "burn through trees." In nearly a year of use there have been only 3 times (we're full-timers) when we couldn't get at least SD reception.

Then you might need to get hubby a chainsaw (which is a best friend of a sat dish).
Sorry for the bad news, microwave transmissions tend to not do well at making it through trees or buildings which is why sat dishes are not used indoors either.
Best thing to do is either not park in a heavily shaded spot or like others mentioned use a portable dish with a bunch of coax to get it out and awy from the trees.

A little midnight swap with friends would cure the problem
