Joshua Tree… What can I say, I was never one for the desert but this place is beautiful! We arrived on Tuesday evening into Jumbo Rock, setup camp and started the “wind down” process. Day time highs were high fifties and lows were in the low forties.
Lots to do if you like hiking and general poking around. There’s no water and no dump in Jumbo Rock although you can find both in Black Rock campground in the West part of the park. The dump will cost you five bucks and you can top off your water at the same time.
By the time Thursday came around the place filled up quick.
Enjoy the pics...

Looks fabulous, but I do have one question! Did you not have any issues w/ the dogs? My understanding is that Joshua Tree NP doesn't allow dogs on any of the trails (in fact last year we were told we had to stick to the paved road w/ doggie). If you managed to find a spot that allows them to run around we're definitely going there w/ the rig. Let me know...

One of my favorite places. The first time I was there was almost 60 years ago. Long before the rock climber found it. Back then this time of year there would only be a handful of campers. The last time we tried to go there it was full. Thanks for the pictures.

Yes "pets are prohibited on trails and beyond 100' from legally open roads and campgrounds" but… when in Rome as they say. No one was adhering to that policy and no one was going to hike where we were. Just pick up the poo and don’t allow the little guys to chase the local little guys.
We had lots of rangers cruising by but not one word was said.

From the NPS Joshua NP site
"Pets
While pets are allowed in the park, their activities are restricted. They must be on a leash at all times and cannot be more than 100 feet from a road, picnic area, or campground; they are prohibited from trails, and they must never be left unattended-not even in a vehicle"

thank you for sharing your handsome pictures. We are planning a trip there and are wondering about the difficulties in finding a spot for a 34 ft fifth wheel. Do you need reservations? Which campground suits bigger units? We are planning our time there in mid April. Thanks for any help from anyone. Dave

Yes that the was rule that stopped us from camping in Joshua Tree last year, but good to know there's some potential leeway.
