When did you know RVing was for you? I am one of five children. The only way my father could afford to take everyone on vacation was to rent an RV stuff all 5-7 of us in there and away we went. For the first few years we got the Winnebago Brave. I think the Brave is 24ft. Then one glorious year we got the Winnebago Cheiftan. The coolest biggest thing I had ever seen. 27ft. My brothers and sister dreaded every minute of these Summer vacations. They wanted to be with there friends, they felt confined, they could'nt get away from me, etc. On the other hand I thought the whole experience was the greatest thing ever!I could lay in my bed listen to my walkman go to the bathroom any time I want eat anytime I want all while rolling down the highway. We would get to our destination and my brothers and sister would not get out of the RV in protest. I could not wait to run down to the river and through rocks in it. My siblings to this day do not understand my love for RVing.

My dad and uncle rented a pop up when I was about 10 and hooked it to the back of my uncle Buick and we went north fishing in MI UP for two weeks in the middle of no ware for two weeks. No TV no Phone and No stores to run to. Had a blast. I am 59 now and the thought of it still makes me smile.

We had tent camped for many years. Then, we moved to the NW. The first time, we had water running inside the tent. My wife said that was it. We bought a travel trailer and moved up from there. - 1977

I was 10 and went camping with a friend's family in their pop up. Hooked on camping and RVing.
