Any recommendations for a printer to use for an Ipad? I currently have 4 printers connected to my desk top,(XP) which I use for a print server. (wireless for my other computers) We have a mix of brands but would like to be able to print wirelessly, direct from the ipad, mainly text but some photos. None of my current 4 are airprint compatible. Apple.com has a list of about 75 printers that claim will work, but looking for something easy to set up and to use.

Several folks have recommended this photo printer: Canon Wireless PrinterCanon Wireless printer. Read the reviews and it says you just need to upgrade the firmware and it works well. I have the printer and an iPod but haven't tried it yet. The printer/scanner works well on my wireless network.

Search the net for "airprint server". You will get some hits with instructions on making your Windows machine an Airprint server for your iPad. You should then be able to use all of your existing printers.

Go to APPLE.com and look in their store for the printers they recommend. Jot down the model numbers and go shopping for better pricing on those........

HP Photosmart Plus B210 series. Pretty much plug and play, after brief and easy setup to recognize your wireless network.

Works on our I-pad and several different laptops in the house.

Try the printopia app, that should let you use your current printers.

Any printer that says 'ePrint wireless' on it will work with the iPad. We have the HP Photosmart and it works great.

No need for a special printer, look into Google Cloud Print which will let you print to the printers you already have.

Thanks to everyone that posted ideas. I was over at the local Wally World and saw a HP Photosmart D110a that listed it as being "airprint" enabled. So I did the $89 investment and brought one home. It was a matter of installing the ink, plugging it in to power and turning it on. Then just follow the directions on the printer LCD screen. Had to add my WiFi password for my home system and it was working. Took about 30 minutes to have it up and working with my iPhone and the iPad. Both printed my test samples of text and photos very well. Then I set up my 3 wireless laptops by running the HP supplied CD on each of them. About as simple as it could get for me. Not a single glitch in the entire process. Now I am very curious and want to try the Google Cloud Print program. Some of the apps sound interesting as well so I will print all the suggestions and store them away for future needs.
Thanks again.
