We have just stored our 5th wheel at Chattanooga west KOA ( a great spot). We are planning to pick it up in February and head to Texas and see the sights there. We are contemplating storing our trailer in Texas for a few years. Our Canadian based insurer requires us to bring the 5th wheel back into Canada in order to maintain coverage after 1 Year.
Which company in the States would you recommend as an insurer so we can leave it, in storage, in Texas until we are ready to bring it back to Ontario?
Thanks for your advice

I am curious as the answer to that as well. When I inquired a few Years ago I was told that I couldn't buy insurance to cover a Canadian Registered RV anywhere in the USA.
Maybe that has changed.

I use Progressive and have been happy for many years.. you would just have to call and explain your circumstances and see what can be done.. Progressive phone/online is less expensive than going through an agent..

We live in MI and stored our trailer in AZ with Progressive. I had to have a billing address in AZ. Our friends owned the park so that wasn't an issue until they sold the park. Also they would NOT sell me insurance with comprehensive only. Even though the trailer was not going to leave the park, I had to carry collision.

My trailer was covered by a home owners policy as long as I was living in it, transporting it or stored on my property in my home state. Once we decided to leave it in Texas on our lot rather than drag it back and forth I was required to insure it in Texas. Only a couple of companies will insure RVs stored in Texas ( according to various agents) and that company was Foremost. AARP told us when we contacted them we could get insurance thru them but it was also Foremost. Just a bit higher than the local agency in south Texas. Kind of like a mobile home, tied down, and a couple of agencies wanted it skirted. A bit expensive in my opinion but I deem it necessary. I cannot think of the other company, American something or other. About the same price. There are limitations on what they cover. Read the policy carefully to learn what it doesn't cover.

While this won't answer the original poster's question. We store our 5th wheel at Birch Bay in Washington, (the cost of storage is covered by what we save on the ferry), checked it out with our insurance agent and they told us that there was no problem as long as it was with in 200 miles of the border. Why 200 miles I have no clue.

See if The Hartford will cover you guys. We’ve had good rv insurance with them for over a decade and they’re a pleasure to deal with. Low rates, discounts and prompt service. Not sure if they cover Canadian vehicles but it’s worth a shot.
