Don't know how far south you have gone from Florence, but OR 42 through Coquille to I-5 is a pleasant drive. I believe you could make Red Bluff in a day's drive. We did on one occasion.

When I lived in Redding....made many trips to Eureka area to camp. Pulled my 5ver over there quite a few times. It is a good road.....never had any problems. In the winter you will get some snow on the 3 passes. Enjoy your trip.

I'll add this to 299...we went over it W to E in good weather in our 35' fiver and NEVER again! Thought we'd never get to Redding. Up and down...up and down...could only imagine with snow!

Thanks all, we're going to go on down to 20 and cross over. If it was good weather I'd do 299, but not going to take a chance on snow. Randy, a 35' 5'er? What happened to your truck camper?

I drove 299 to 101 and back to Redding yesterday. No snow, a few RV's, very little traffic
