WE HAVE A 20% DISCOUNT ON RATES FOR THIS RALLY. YOU MUST CONTACT THE RESORT AND MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS AFTER SENDING ME A PRIVATE MESSAGE THAT YOU WANT TO GO. TELL THE RESORT YOU ARE WITH THE TRUCK CAMPER RALLY IN JUNE. WE WILL HAVE A POTLUCK DINNER ON SATURDAY NIGHT. THERE WILL ASLO BE A FAREWELL BREAKFAST ON SUNDAY MORNING.
THERE ARE A LOT OF THINGS TO DO AT THE RESORT AND SURROUNDING AREA.
THE RESORT IS ON A BEAUTIFUL LAKE WHERE YOU CAN FISH (MT FISHING LICENSE REQUIRED), SWIM IF IT'S WARM ENOUGH AND BOAT ON THE LAKE. ITS ABOUT 2 MILES AWAY FROM HWY 2 AND THE TRAFFIC.
YOU WILL BE ONLY 3 MILES FROM THE WEST GATE TO GLACIER NATIONAL PARK. THE GOING TO THE SUN ROAD MAY OR MAY NOT BE OPEN. SINCE ABOUT THE 1950'S TO NOW THE AVERAGE DATE FOR OPENING IS BEFORE WE ARRIVE. ITS MOTHER NATURE SO YOU NEVER KNOW THOUGH. IF ITS NOT COMPLETELY OPEN THE ROAD WILL BE OPEN UP TO A CERTAIN POINT ON BOTH SIDES OF THE PASS.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS IS WIDE OPEN TO ALLOW YOU TIME TO ENJOY THE SURROUNDING AREA AND FELLOW TRUCK CAMPER FRIENDS.
if there is enough interest here in the next few months i can also book a private "red bus" tour. it seats 17 guests and that price divided up was pretty good really, cheaper that booking for one or two people.
its something im thinking about as ive always driven and it would be nice to sit back and look more. as it depends on if the pass will be open or not its kind of a wait and see thing. they did tell me that if they cant drive over the pass they could arrange for other destinations in the park too. plenty early enough to figure it out.
there are also other shuttle buses that operate with in the park.
Sounds like a lot of fun; wish it was about 1,500 miles closer.
Are truck campers allowed on the Going to the Sun Highway?
here is info on part of the link from the nps web site..
Are there vehicle size restrictions on the Going-to-the-Sun Road?
Yes. To help reduce congestion, vehicle size restrictions are in effect. Vehicles, and vehicle combinations, longer than 21 feet(including bumpers) or wider than 8 feet (including mirrors), are prohibited between Avalanche Campground and the Rising Sun picnic area parking. Vehicle and vehicle combinations over 10 feet in height may have difficulty driving west from Logan Pass to the Loop, due to rock overhangs. Stock trucks and trailers are able to access Packers Roost on the west, and Siyeh Bend on the east.
thats another reason why i am looking at doing the "red bus" tour. i also usually keep my tc on the truck all the time. so you are able to drive a short ways into the park....or ...drop the camper at the resort.
