For anyone interested in this subject, Canada has officially approved a historic event. The location of the plaque and date of unveiling is still to be decided. On the list for possible locations is Neys Provincial Park on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Great RVing location.

We have camped there several times. It's a great campsite!

Draft wording for the plaque was received Feb 14, 2012. We only have a few days to offer suggestions to help ensure that the wording is both appropriate and accurate. Email me if you would like to do review the draft.

With the assistance of many people, a revised plaque wording has been forwarded to Parks Canada for consideration. Our recommendation along with others will be considered and eventually the Board will be asked to make a decision.

We are one step closer to having the unveiling ceremony.

Want to read what was recommended, email me.

Update: The government has now approved Neys Camp 100 as the location for the historic event plaque as of January 30th, 2012. Neys is now a Provincial Park as indicated earlier. The plaque wording and the date of the unveiling ceremony are pending.

I've camped at Neys once before, walked the same ground as those POW's did. It's a really neat feeling to step into history like that. Glad I took the time to soak up the history, I'm the better for it.

We will back again this summer, and am in contact with Anml_341 about attending the official ceremonies when it happens. Maybe two trips to Neys this year. Lucky me.
