Wow, what an experience. Having a helper makes the job that much easier. The cover is huge and bulky. It helps to spread it out on a clean driveway as preparation. Find the area on the cover marked 'rear' That's the end that I hauled up first with a long rope tied to the end. The rest of the cover can be helped along by a helper on the ground. As I dragged the cover front to rear, I had wifey tug on one side than another to keep it centered on the roof. Once on the ground, I stopped sweating (I hate heights) I cinched the straps up tight and put Big Mutha in it's winter parking spot (the hole). I removed the battery and called it a day. Felt good to get it done on a 65 degree day in November BEFORE the next snow storm. Next season it should take me no more than a half hour to get the job done.

I would like to hear from more folks regarding putting a cover on. I have my cover on order. Been thinking about how I will put it on. Yes, I have a patient wife to help.
Is it critical that you get up on the roof? Or can it be done by 2 folks on the ground?
What have you found to be the BEST way?
Thanks,

When I purchased my Adco cover this fall, I unrolled it on the ground and rerolled it as I was not sure as to how it had been rolled up from the factory. I wanted to ensure that when I took the rolled up cover to the front of the RV that it would unroll when I worked my way to the back of the RV.

Good thing that I rerolled it as otherwise I would have had to totally rearrange the unrolling process while on the roof of the RV which would have been much more difficult than doing it on the ground.

I installed the cover by myself.

Last year, it went really quickly but this year...DH took it up on the roof, and unrolled it. I stayed on the ground to help (not much) while it came down. He came down and started to connect it, only to realize he had unrolled it upside down. He went back up and was able to pull up one side reverse, and pull up the other side, that worked easily from what I could see. We also put padding where anything might rub and made sure everything was tight.

We put it on the roof unroll it find the "front", and "rear" tags and push the sides over the edge. Twenty minutes in a stiff wind. I rest much easier with it in place,

I used one for a while on sig. 5er...40' cover on my 39' 6" length 5er, SON!!!. I'd go up, spread it out and the DW would pull it down..I'd then come down and get everything strapped down...don't use it anymore..caused some chaffing on the side of my roof, so I gave it away. Too much hassle for covering it over the winter months that I don't camp..Camper still looks almost brand new without the use of the cover...

Though it can also get bitterly cold in the mountains of NC, I've never removed the batteries from my 5er...I plug the 5er in on and off through the months I'm not using it and batteries have done OK..Been doing it like that for years and years..also leave the LCD TV's in the 5er and even with temps. in single digits, Televisions and batteries have both faired well....

I know from storing it last spring that it is folded in thirds, and the front is the end of the roll. I put is on the ground, grab ahold (or you can attach a rope), and climb the ladder, letting it unroll as I pull it up. Drag to the front, unfold the thirds and let them drop over the side while I'm walking to the back, then pull the back down when going down the ladder. Of course, it doesn't always go exactly like that, but pretty close. Put it on and take it off by myself.

I was thinking about the question of if you could put the cover on from the ground. You would probably have to tie ropes to it and throw them over the top and pull one side over. I don't think I would want to do this because you might damage the roof pulling the ropes over it. I haven't used a cover on the 5th whl. yet but did use it on our t.t. we had. I remember it can be scary putting it on or off on a windy day.

Pretty much how we ended up doing it, after trying various other methods first.
