Take it for a ride down a rough road. Of course, here in Washington you may have a problem finding one!

America_west wrote: I had no choice but to operate my Dometic ref. for 5 days being unlevel about 3 inches. Now it only runs for a couple mins and totally shuts down. Do I have to leave it set level for a period of time, or will it need service or replacing? It's been level now for 4 days, and it still shuts down after a short period of time.

Give the people in this link a call. You might be able to replace just the rear guts without having to buy a new box, etc.

Welcome to the Forum Ron. You didn't mention whether it stops working on gas and/or electric. Shutting down after a few minutes does not sound like a cooling unit problem. Sounds more like a circuit board, but I would recommend having the unit looked at professionally. Good luck and again, welcome to the forum.

If you do find that the cooling unit is bad and will no longer work, you can order a new one from The Cooling Unit Warehouse and install it yourself. It's really not that difficult if your handy with tools. I recently replaced the cooling unit on my Norcold 1201 by myself and am quite happy with the end result. Here is a short video showing my Amish Cooling Unit Installation

OK you guys. Thanks for all the responses. Here's the complete details: After the 5 days of being 3 inches unlevel, we are in a total level position. The unit ran fine while unlevel, but then using either gas or elec. the unit would completely shut off after maybe 20 mins. All lights would shut off and it would not start unless I started it manually. It would run for a few more minutes and shut down again. I let it set all night last night and tried to start it a few mins. ago. Both gas & elec. It shut down within 5 mins. No blockage of vents, Gas burns beautifuly, no odors, nothing leaking anywhere. I beat on the tubes with the handle of a big screwdriver as one fellow suggested to no avail. Calling a tech today. Thanks again. Ron

Take the trailer for a ride on a hilly winding road if possible. This will shake things up internally in the cooling system. When setting for a long period out of level, the coolant will separate and has a liquid gas block. The driving around will usually stir things back up if it has not set too long. If that doesn't work, removing and sitting it upside down over night usually will for stubborn cases

If the lights go off, sounds like a power problem. You can also try a vibrating sander on the tubes to shake things up.

x2. I don't know of any mechanism for the refer to know that a clogged unit condition has happened and shutdown the system within a few minutes. A clogged unit is usually detected by it not cooling down in several hours. Google your refer circuit board and follow the troubleshooting instructions. My guess is something in the circuit board or a bad ground.
You didn't mention if it shutoff using propane or electic. If it is propane then there are several other things to check. Let us know if that is the case
