I want to install a read view camera on my fifth wheel/truck combo.

I prefer a wired system. I am having trouble choosing where to run the wire from the trailer's rear.

Here are my three thoughts:

1. Run a license plate camera and run wires to the trailer's front under the trailer...atached to frame and/or gas line.

2. Run the cable from a high-mounted camera inder a strip of eternabond and down the refrigerator vent to the basemant,

3, Same as #2 but run down the sewer vent....exiting through a hole above the basement,

Do any of you have recommendations or new ideas?

The license place cam position will be too low to be of any use. You want the view to be high from the top otherwise all you'll see will be headlights and grills. Is there a way to run the cable down the backwall somewhere? Then you can lace the cable along the frame to the front.

Replaced OEM camera cut access to original cabling from inside bedroom cupboard Fished new wiring down end-cap/wall cavity to frame than forward... Have 5 removable Security cameras which run into Refrigerator roof vent.. 2 Radio antenna cables that run down outside of gray tank roof vent, cover fits perfectly..

You have covered the best ways I know of running wiring..
account for the size of the connector if using pre-made cables.

I have mine mounted on the rear ladder with the wire wrapped down one side, then routed under and along a frame rail to the front of my fifth. I have a double female adapter on it, then a cable from the cab of truck to the back bumper. When not hooked to fifth, it plugs into a bumper camera. When I hook to fifth, unplug from bumper cam and plug into cable from fifth.

I have one on the license plate, works great. It's on all the time. Great for passing etc. My second option was to do the ladder thing. to get it up higher. but haven't had any real issues with it on the license plate.

I have a rear kitchen so I ran the wires inside the cabinets and outside I zip tied the wire to the gas line. When I got to the front I removed the plastic cover that covers the screws on the trim that covers the joints and then put the cover back on. Did that all the way to the hitch, went down exposed to the hitch and zip tied the wire alongside the umbilical cord. I used a set of RCA plugs to connect Truck to camper. No fancy twisty coiled cords. The license plate camera that came with the kit failed in short order. The manufacturer said it was not meant to be ON all the time, just during BACKUP. no warrenty. have since replaced with a camera that was meant to be ON.

I also used a license plate camera, which finished the season but leaked water during last winter. Bought a new camera on ebay, mounted to the top of the bumper in a small plastic electrical box. Also ran wire along the gas line; rear kitchen model.

I chose to use a wireless unit with the antenna mounted to the pin box, but a wired system would only be a little more hassle, what with running wires thru the vehicle and some kind of water resistant plug for disconnecting.

ours in mounted on the ladder, then into the rear cap area at the same level, down to the bottom and followed wires and gas line to the front storage comp, then up into the bedroom overhang area to pin, then wired tied to the trailer wire as Brian did. Had to use a 25 ft. extension to get from the dash to the rear of the bed in the truck. Put a plug right there next to the trailer plug. Wired it up to one of the uplifter switches, that way I can see it whenever I want. Works great. Go wired cam though.

I wouldn't mind putting another cam on the roof pointed forward at the height of the forward AC cover for watching overhead clearances when close.
