Last summer I had a problem with the generator shutting off. I replaced the fuel pump, as the dealer said it was bad. But my question is, does anyone have an idea on how to get air circulating through the gen. compartment as it is air cooled. I think this might help. Thanks

It seems you could install a 110v fan that is wired into the genny circuit so each time the genny starts the fan comes on and circulates the air.

The generator is supposed to be self cooling. It has a fan attached to the top of the crankshaft that brings air in through the vent slots at the sides of the removable cover and directs it down across the unit exhausting it at the bottom. It's important that the access cover be properly installed. If it isn't the cooling air will escape through the opening and not be directed across the engine and generator.

Another thing to check for is to be sure there is no debris or animal nests in the open ports in the generator base. Any interference will limit the air flow and affect the cooling

What kind of motorhome do you have? On my Monaco with the 5500 there is a lot of airflow when the generator is running.

There are holes in the bottom of the compartment that allow air to be drawn in. Check it out with the generator running, you might be surprised.

Nothing is either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.
