When winterizing our Forest River Wildcat today, we used four gallons of antifreeze when only two gallons were necessary for our previous eight winterizings. We saw no leaks but very little pink colour in the lines and eventually only a faint pink came out of the taps. Usually we get a brighter pink. The fresh water tank has never been used and thus it should be empty just as the monitor says it is. The hot water tank had been drained prior to winterizing and the by-pass was positioned as always. No antifreeze drained out of the anode hole. No drips or leaks were seen under the RV. Did the anitfreeze get diluted by water still in the system aand thus the lines are only faint pink? Could the antifreeze have gone into the fresh water tank which reads empty and has never been used?

Hi! How do you get the "pink stuff" in to your system? If you add it to the fresh water fill, then yes, it will go in to the fresh water tank. If you have installed an inductor so that the water pump sucks it right out of the jug and bypasses the fresh water tank, then it remains a mystery. I add the antifreeze to my water tank, which then gets pumped thru the water system. Took me an extra gallon this year, too - ended up having to re-position the rig to get it to prime the pump. I attribute this to my doing a better-than-usual job of getting the remaining water OUT of the plumbing prior to my adding the antifreeze. Sounds like you got it done, as long as you are getting pink out of all water sources - sink/toilet/indoor and outdoor shower. Do you get a pink return when you depress the 1-way valve inside your city water connection (if yours is set up that way...). ST

There was a recent post here or on another forum about bleach in the water tank that may have made the colorant in the antifreeze disappear. Could that be the case?

I'm assuming you used the water pump to suck the antifreeze in. If so, you could have a bad check valve in the pump, which let the antifreeze run back into the fresh water tank.

If the color of the antifreeze changed from the jug to the tap, obviously it's mixed with water. Find the water, and you find where the antifreezed changed color.
Why did it take extra gallons, though? I didn't understand why you put extra antifreeze in. Something is different this year.

It did not disapear it is in the fresh water tank,or you have a leak and it is soaked up in the insulation. my guess is the frsh water tank. but its not enough to set off the sensor so it reads empty. Will

If you have a hose that sucks the rv anti freeze out of the jug and you used it and if you have at the city water connection a valve maybe marked city/tank and it's switched to tank the anti freeze will go in the fresh water tank.

My hot water heater had the single valve bypass, and the check valve leaked into the HWT. I would check there to see if any went into it.

Once winterizing my Cardinal, forgot to remove the on board water filter. "Clear" water came out of faucets and continued to add antifreeze. The filter was taking the pink color out. The shower was pink so was not being filtered.
