Very sorry for your loss. Thank you for taking time to come and warn others of the dangers.... you must be heartbroken. I know I would be.

My good friend had her new dog tied into her golf cart with the leash. The leash moved on the bar it was tied to and the dog went over the edge and was run over by one of the tires, crushing it's skull. Very sad.

We kept our dog on a harness and I had two leashes. One was a standard 6 ft leash. The other was one I used when we were in crowds. I think the whole thing was only 12" long. I believe they are called Traffic Leads.

I am so sorry to here of your losses. I worked on golf carts for over 8 years. Went to a tech. school at the manufacturer in georgia. The battery (electric) is the most dangerous. Once the key switch is on and the accelator is applied, if a malfunction occurs the only way to stop is is to apply the brakes. When I worked on them always jacked up so the rear wheels were off the ground and supported the frame with jackstands. A gas cart; generally when you take your foot off the accelator it will shut down. The other big safety factor is to slow down when turning especially with big wheel carts, as flipping over an 800-1200 pond cart can cause serious if not fatalities. Irover I don't claim to be an authority on this, but being safe is much better than the sorrow later.
