Hello everyone! I have been looking at rvs for about 5 years now and finally came to purchase one! A fifth wheel camper! I looked at truck campers, travel trailers and truck campers before buying a used one fifth wheel! It is a 1999 Newmar American Star! Me and my wife are very excited to take it out next spring with plans to head to Mackinac Island in the summer! I love the forum! I learn alot and may have a few questions of my own down the road! Thanks and ready to hit the road!

I myself just became the second owner of a 1999 Newmar American Star!
My wife and I were looking for some time and felt that this would be a great starter unit. If in the future we decide we want to spend a lot of time on the road, we will upgrade to a newer Newmar Product.
I wish you the very best with your rig, many happy, happy days of camping. I know you will love the Newmar.
(By the way, if you don't know, there is a great Newmar Club. It is the Newmar Kountry Klub. They offer trips and the individual State and region have rally's a couple times a year. Meet others with the same interests as you.)

Best of luck with the Newmar. They are great products and well built. Btw, 5 years to find a trailer?...Whew. I thought the 5 months it took me was an eternity!

I know that it took me what seems forever on a choice for an rv but I got married in March and my wife knows what she wants! LOL! Thats how I ended up with a fifth wheel! I love the way it pulls! I never had anything pull so nice! I am very happy with it! Thanks for all the great advice! I am working on the pictures!

Good luck and nice trailer. There are a ton of great campgrounds in the ohio and nearby areas.
For your first overnighter I would opt. for the driveway or a close by campground.
That way you can make a list and round up all the things you forgot.

We still do it every year. our first trip out is to Maumee Bay, only 20 min, from the house.
