For the last 2 1/2 years I have owned a Tiffin Allegro Bay. During that time it has been off the road for 6 months intermittently including 2 months back to the manufacturer. In that time it has never completed a trip without at least one failure. I bought a Tiffin because it was supposed to be reliable, but really wish I still had my old Winnie. The purpose of writing this is to start a discussion on reliability of motor homes in general. and in particular Tiffins. I may have a lemon, but this lemon is my third RV and so I can tell you it is not typical from my experience.
I would like to see JD Powers compile data like they do on cars so consumers can be better informed. Good Sam Club could do that. I would gladly contribute.

It may be helpful if you elaborate a bit on what type of problems you've been having. For example, have they been chassis or house problems? or a combination of both?

Iam on my second Allegro Bus and beleive you me Tiffin have more than there share of poor design and workmanship.Thier only saving grace is they fix just about anything that they installed wrong and or made wrong.Several major manufacturing Tiffin items are Kitchen slide unit floors made too weak and not enough roller support pre 2009.Corrected in 2009 design.Poorly supported grey/black/water tanks causing floor bowing+Rot,.Plus many small things such as missing screws, wrong size screws, not enough screws, missing support brackets, wires tied incorrectly, micky mouse mounting of many objects etc etc

I wish there was a compilation of data some where as well. You do sound like you have a lemon which is a big problem with a tiffin because red bay is always jam packed. Red bay is ok once in a while if you are retired but a mess for the rest of us.

there is a big problem with compiling problems. typically all problems get treated the same. If one MH has a leaking roof, slides do not work, and the jacks do not work (3 problems) it would be rated better than another MH with 5 trivial issues.

I hope the bugs were worked out of my Red the first year. I have had the cat rails added to eliminate roof radius cracking so hopefully not to many large issues remain.

I wish I knew what brand was best to buy next year. Tiffin will fix things, but it is not uncommon for people to be in Red Bay for 30 days and I have heard about stays longer than 60 days. That is just CRAZY from my perspective.

My problems are mostly with all parts of the coach with the exception of the power train. Major areas are: slides, air conditioners, leaks causing mold, turn signals, brakes, windows not fitting correctly, entrance door, and the awning. My tile floor in the main room has been replaced three times and dents reappear after the next trip. The slides hit the floor and it could not be fixed even after 6 tries.

Most motorhomes have problems. Tiffin is known to work with customers to repair defects, not as a defect free product. Time would probably be better spent working with Bob Tiffin on resolving your issues than venting here. Wish you the best of luck!

I have worked with Bob Tiffin. He did help on some occasions but it is now well past the warranty. But the track record of the RV even after spending 2 months at Red Bay is appalling. I have owned three RVs (not an expert) but at least have experience with some that actually work. My Tiffin is a very expensive device that fails after every use. Yes I am venting, but the point is to share and potentially get some database of RV reliability that will help us choose our next one.

simply put I do not agree at all.Bob Tiffin should spend more time producing a better product is the way i see it
The things I have personally experienced with Tiffin products were all avoidable had they had better designers and better pre delivery quality controll

That is horrible Jimmy K. How very frustrating. I have always wondered about the Tiffin products as they seem to spend a lot of time in Red Bay. Friends have owned two and both spent time there. They now have a Monaco and it has its share of problems as well. I can say that the customer service seems excellent as most if not all of the Tiffin owners seem to think the world of Bob. That is a good thing. Maybe the nature of motorhomes is for things to break and some are luckier than others. Customer service may be the most important. Good luck in getting it finally fixed.

Can't some one both post problems here or anywhere AND work with Tiffin to get things resolved?

Do you not like to see legitimate problems about Tiffin MH posted to the net?

Tiffin does work with owners On Tiffins Schedule

But I am in search of the best choice of MH manufacturer. For all I know it is Tiffin. But we are never going to come to a legitimate evaluation if owners do not post the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Your comment to subtly censure discord about Tiffin is not helpful and the accumulated effect could mislead people into buying the wrong MH.

And yes a Tiffin Phaeton is still high on my list for my next MH even if I am willing to consider other brands.
