Powerstroke experts: could it be stuck turbo vanes causing low boost = low power?

OP: Is there black smoke coming out the tailpipe when you're towing uphills?

It will boost well over 20. I believe it tops out about 28psi.

It runs clean out the exhaust, nothing visible.

I'm guessing you have the tranny in T/H? On a decent grade with T/H on I can easily see 3000rpms letting the truck do it's thing. I don't have the throttle mashed but I certainly don't mind the engine winding up, the 6.0 was built to spin, let it.

Music to my ears when she's working

Sounds about right for stock with big tires. I'm far from stock now, so it pulls a bit harder. Being able to hold 50 up a steep grade is really not that bad.

28psi is about max on a stock 6.0 I normally run about 50-55 pulling grades but if I put my foot in it 3700 RPMs - EGT's at 1250 I can pull them at 65.......

I don't see how you can complain about not enough power and too slow up the hills if you still have throttle left. That's what the throttle is for, applying more power so it will go faster up hills. Seems like an easy fix to me, push down harder with your right foot, the truck should speed up. If it doesn't then you have a problem.

Seriously, your truck seems fine. The 6.0 makes it's power higher in the RPM band then a lot of other diesels.

I had two 6.0 psd around 3300 rpms is the sweet spot, push the pedal its OK.

Any RPM would be the sweet spot with a 6.
I certainly think your right foot needs some more exercise. Those motors love to rev, among other things.

LOL, pretty much what I was thinking.

I don't understand peoples thinking when it comes to these things. Sort of like having an RV and not using the toilet. What is wrong with WOT? With my 6.5 I have been WOT for more than 15 minutes at a time and I bet a few times more than a 1/2 hour at a time.

As long as temps are within reason, open the thing up.
