I am trying to convince a friend to buy a truck camper instead of a big Class C. My friend travels with his wife only (kids are out of the house now) and he really loves the outdoors....

So far, my top 5 reasons for a truck camper are;

1) Versatility, Truck Campers are a truck and an RV, use them together or separate.
2) Truck Campers are more off road capable than many types of RVs.
3) Truck Campers are easy to travel with because they are relatively compact in size compared to other types of RVs. Easy to fuel up, easy to navigate parking lots.
4) Prices are reasonable if bought second hand.
5) The truck and camper can be sold as one piece or 2 individual pieces, making resale easier.

What are your top 5 (or more) reasons you love your truck camper???

having owned several other types of RV the TC has been one of our better decisions, its perect for us, what we do & where we do it. But I wouldnt twist any arms, I cant say a TC would be 'perfect' for everyone.
That said

1 no extra vehicle to maintain license and insure (though I do have a rider on the truck that covers camper)
2 can go most anywhere to camp
3 can have camper with us or leave it at base camp
4 easily tow/launch boat etc. just smaller
5 its paid for

1)My mother in law doesn't like camping in it
2)none of my other relatives like camping in it
3) the truck is 4x4 and we can get ito the boonies.
4)I have a pick up truck to use when ever I want
5)it fits anywhere I can park the truck

Except for the buy separate and sell separate factors, all of these reasons apply to my Tiger CX 4x4, the C that camps like a TC.

Oh...give five reasons....I'll go with Bigfootchevy's list.

My List is very similar!
1. It's paid for!
2. I already had the truck, and I use the truck all the time, so I know it is ready to go, unlike a parked class C...
3. I can go any time of the year any where that my 4x4 will take us.
4. No Extra Insurance
5. Much Cheaper to take on the Ferry to get of the Island we live on!

Having had both, We'll stick with a fiver, cause....most truck campers are...12 feet tall, 8 feet wide, need a trailer to haul the extraineous stuff, can't get firewood or short runs to the places you'd like.
We can get our fiver into 90% of the places a truck camper will go, I got the truck to get firewood and run errands, seems its always me who gets these chores, cause I'm the only one with a detachab;le vehicle. I like both, have had both, just happen to like the extra room, to each their own.

I just gotta have more room than a truck camper affords.
