We have been very happy with our KVH in motion Sat dish for 4 years now. (once we added the AC power supply). Now I am hearing rumors from friends that DirecTv will soon be changing things so that even SD will not work while IN Motion. Anyone have any information on this?

I beleive this is what you are hearing about. Yes, if you want specialty items you will need this.

I'm not sure how that addresses my question regarding IN MOTION? What speciality items are you referring to? From what I read on your link, it is just telling you how to set up an RV account - nothing that speaks to IN MOTION capability.

You may need the upgraded electronics or software. Follow Direct TVs FAQ. They list the dishes that are compatible. Somewhere it says you need to purchase a mobile setup to get local channels. I am going to stay with my non-in-motion dish and forget local channels unless they come over the antenna.

I'm not asking about local channels....... Everything is working fine for now. ASking if anyone has heard anything about Directv making changes in receiving IN MOTION in standard definition.

Update from Original Poster here - I contacted KVH and DirecTV. DirecTV sent me a nice little form letter that basically said anything can happen but we can't tell you anything about anything unless it is formally announced. KVH called me AND emailed me to let me know my email to them made the rounds around their entire office, then they called DirecTV too. The KVH guy said that there is nothing in the works that should impact my KVH dome receiving Standard Definition Directv while IN MOTION. So the rumor my friend heard on another forum appears to be just that - a rumor that cannot be confirmed.

I have not heard that Direc is moving "SD" off 101 or to a different band.

They may have signed with a different antenna supplier though.

NOTE: that DirecTV NEVER listed all the compilable antennas, NEVER.

And I'm not aware of any "Other band" Domes from any company.
