In the 1960s I built a VW bus into a camper. It had a bed, a closet and a sink. Storage was under the bed. It had a 2 gal. tank on a shelf that gravity fed water to the faucet and sink, and a 2 gal. container that was the holding tank. It was my home. Every morning I put on ny bathing suit, drove to the beach and cleaned up at the outside shower, which was for people to rinse off the sand. This was the perfect RV for a Southern Calif. beach bum.
After that, I owned a Dodge conversion van, a 1970 Pace Arrow, and a 1986 Jamberee. These 4 RVs were driven until thay were dead and sold to a junk yard. My RVs don't sit in a driveway. Each of them took me many thousands of miles to wounderful adventures.
My current RV is a 1996 Fleetwood Storm. It's taken my wife and I from Fl. to Calif. 5 times. Once to Mass, and once to Oregan.
I've asked my wife about buying a newer RV, perhaps one with slide outs. She says "NO!". She loves Stormy. I gusee I'll have her (And the RV) until the junk yard calls.
What was your first RV?

First RV was a 2000 VW camper. Folks had one in the 60's.
Second RV was a 1999 Winnebago Rialta. Nice little unit except for the bathroom, getting it worked on, and finding tires.
Third RV was a 1994 33' Airstream Landyacht MH. Nice unit except for the ongoing battle with leaks.
Fourth RV was a 1988 Winnebago Superchief. Underestimated amount of work and money required to make it right.
Current RV is my 2000 Hurrican 30Q. Best of the lot so far.

We had six kids and our first rv was a 15' Fan travel trailer. Traveled all over the place with it and made do with 8 people. Now have 38' motorhome for just the two of us......go figure.

First was a brand new 1976 Ford extended van with a TEC package which was a top that raised up by hand to give an area to walk in plus doubled with stanchions like cots for our 2 kids to sleep up in. Had a sink with a 10 gallon tank with hand pump, 2 burner cook top, small frame mounted propane tank, 4 cu. ft ice box, a couple of cupboards, a small closet, and a dinette in the back. We traveled cross country a couple of time in that little vehicle. Camped at a lot of KOAs back then when they were reasonably priced for families.

Started out with renting a Scamp 16 footer from the MWR, then bought a tent (lasted one day). Next was a 1995 Rockwood pop-up with shower and toilet.
Then a 2000 Rockwood HTT, and now a 1995 Winnebago Brave.

Ground cloth, tent and pickup shell until we got the Starcraft '75 Venture. It is parked in storage next to the current camper.

First camping we did was back of a pickup or tents. When kids came along a friend sold us a tent trailer that we used for 3-4 years. Long dry spell where we only used tents again. Around 8 years ago we decided to get a motorhome. Wife by then was in a wheelchair and going to visit most people was a real pain having to deal with stairs and in most cases not real good access to bathroom. We bought an older MH and altered it to make things a lot easier for her. Has saved us a lot of aggravation over the years...
