I have seen more trucks with broken diesels than diesel without trucks.
Its AMAZING that anything gets moved across this country because of every diesel breaking down and costing 5-10,000 dollars every two months!!! Good grief, do you guys ever listen to your selves? I'll be suprised if my diesel will back out of the drive in the morning, at least according to all you diesel haters. Ok, we got it, you don't like diesels, you can't afford one, don't know how to service one, you HATE the noise and smell, and you cr*p your drawers each time you see one. We got it already and nobody is going to force you to buy one.
Do the rest of us one favor - Quit lieing about them and be honest about why you hate them sooo much and ask yourself if it really matters to the rest of us. Here's a clue - we don't care what you think.
Now go back to whatever it was you were doing there in your parents basement and leave the adults alone.
My meaning in more trucks with broken diesels than Diesels without trucks is that I don't see any good engines setting around. I have looked for my father. They are all worn out by the time they are setting out of the truck. That is why he is going to put gas motors in his broke diesel trucks. Because of cost. I like diesels and want one but not until I retire from the Navy in 4 years find my second career to know if I can carry a payment into military retirement. I work on jets they burn high grade diesel fuel. I am used to the smell and they are much noisier.
I have been out of my parents house over 20 years if you must make stupid accusations. Don't care what you think either.

The irony is the last sentence in an incredibly childish post. You can always tell when someone has lost an argument. They start to turn it into a personal attack.

Sneaking in here with just a note to the OP... I am voting with E&J - your Expy is fine properly set up. And I think I will win the prize for the shortest wheelbase at just 104". We do have a Hensley and towing is a breeze with our setup.
Another vote for the ecoboost if you feel you need a new tow vehicle. Plenty of truck for current trailer and even leaves some room on the table since your current trailer is a lemon (your words) and you may upgrade a little. I see no reason to shove a diesel down your throat if you don't feel the need for one. I would want anything other than a diesel "myself" just because I enjoy daily driving one. I have always had a one ton diesel and 99% of my miles are completely empty and not towing. I just really enjoy them.
So, go to the Ford dealer and check out the "egoboost" LOL. Nice trucks. Just don't buy the hideous brown one.

I ordered my signature truck with the intensions of it being a daily driver and tow truck. We all make our choices based on our own needs. It has worked very well for almost 8 years, 127k and counting. JMHO
I went thru the same dilemma last year when upgrading from our suburban to a new TV to tow our #6500 hybrid.
For us, we tow maybe 500miles per summer. The other 9000miles/year the TV serves as a grocery getter.
In the end I decided the $8K in savings by NOT going to a diesel would buy a lot of gas!
I went with the 6 passenger 2011 Ram 2600 CrewCab.
It pulls our RV like a dream, and for putting around town, it works just fine. No special additives, eura, etc...to worry about. Just gas-n-go.
If you were doing a lot of towing (i.e. 20-30%) of your total annual mileage, the diesel MIGHT be worth it. I get 15-16mpg on the highway with my Ram...and the diesel might be 1-2mpg better.
You need to drive A LOT of miles to make up for higher purchase/fuel/maintenance costs of the diesel.
