The big thing about Wall Drug is the marketing. I have never seen a place hyped on roadside signs like that place. I think the number of roadside signs for that place exceeds the number of Ford, Chevrolet, or Dodge signs at their dealerships nationwide (just kidding, but it seems that way).
Another recommendation for Rafter J. Lighting ceremony at Mount Rushmore is very impressive. My husband is a vet, and all the vets
were invited on stage as the flag was lowered and folded. Beautiful ceremony!
As already said, Wall Drug is a tourist trap - probably the ultimate,
but couldn't go to the area without seeing! It is really something to see, and the story behind its success makes it a monument to smart marketing.
Stayed at the Interior KOA, in the Badlands, several times and will stay again when in the area..It was one of the best KOA's we have stayed..Kind of like an oasis in the middle of a desert..We use it for a base and make day trips..Have been going to the area since the 70's, a lot to see..
