Back in my jobsite days, I used to spray paint my ladders, saws, compressors, nail guns, etc with the ugliest, brightest color and random pattern possible. It doesn't take much... just a few random swipes and paying attention to getting it in places that would be tough to clean out. Not only did it make them easy to find and identify, it made them far less attractive to someone who wanted to either steal them for use or to pawn.

I agree with Cobra. You do not want it to appear that it is a generator sitting out for the taking. The board is a very good idea , however I would secure it with a chain to give it added security. Also camoflaging it with a plant, water container or something else keeps it out of the view of potential theives. JMO
My advice is worth what you paid for it!

You don’t say whether you intend to leave the genny running while you are away or not. The only protection you have is as stated “Out of sight-Out of mind”. Keeping that in mind lock it inside your rig and only take it out when you are around and defiantly put a chain on it with a GOOD padlock. Something that people just don’t understand is that a thief has absolutely nothing invested and they just don’t care if they have to break or damage something to make it theirs. E.g... A rope slipped through that handle and around the bumper of a car is going to relieve you of that generator. If it breaks “So What”.

Store it inside. Just where in New Orleans are you going to boondock with security?

I recall something metal like a frame or brace that was attached to the landing gear legs. It actualy pinned the genny against the ground (no downward pressure). The only drawback was to secure the rocker switch so nobody could raise or lift the front of your 5th wheel or disable the crank on the pull trailer. The boy scout in me (think challenge skills) says that by the time you have read this, I have switched the battery from my Dewalt screw gun to the cordless circular saw and even set the depth of the blade. Keep out of sight!

That won't even run my converter/charger. It pulls 1000 watts for 15 minutes after the batteries have been only slightly discharged.
I thought I had something, but after reading the replies I don't know.
Most of the time there will be lots of other campers around so during the night would be my time of greatest concern. With game tickets going for $1500+ I'm sure there will be people staying at the RV during the game when we are gone. I have relied on a cable through the handle with a lock in the past but that wasn't New Orleans. I guess I'll just get the lay of the land when we arrive and decide the best plan. I carry two of these Hondas in my tool box. I may just leave this one in the box and move the other one in and out of the box. I just get tired of moving it.
