I thought of using my Buddy heater too but I have storage issues. You definitely need alternative heat when boondocking, so I ran a line and installed a blue flame heater. You'll really like not waking up several times a night to the the roar of a furnace fan and dead batteries every morning.
"YES" The Mr Heater "Buddy" can be ran on your RV's Low Pressure Lines and can also be plumbed into it. For a long time there was listing and a Link on how to do this Mod. Its a very simple Mod to do, and the Mr Heater "Buddy" works very well on your RV's Low Pressure Lines. I have been using the Mr Heater "Buddy" and an "Oly Wave #6" Propane Heaters for many years now. As we "Never" use our RV's Furances. We just can't stand the noise that RV Furances make, plus they suck the life out of a Battery Bank very quickly, and suck down Propane like there is no tomorrow. We mostly do Boondocking. We really enjoy Winter RV'ing, as it is some of the best RV'ing that there is. And its nice to stay "Toasty Warm" in the colder months of RV'ing. And Yes, we use our Propane Heaters all night long if needed. And guess what ? Were are still very much alive and doing very well, Thank You. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
Just to clear up a few things about doing the Mod on the Mr Heater "BUDDY" (only) Propane Heater, The reason it can be used on an RV's Low Pressure Line, is because you have to remove the High Pressure regulator from the "Buddy" Heater. You also have to add-in an adapter so a Low Pressure Hose can be connected directly to where the High Pressure Regulator was. It will work with this Mod. No other regulator is needed, as once the High Pressure Regulator is removed, it will work just fine on the RV's Low Pressure Lines. In the past I posted the Link for this Mod many times. And I also sent it to quite a few RV;ers who wanted to do this Mod also. I am sorry to say, that the Link to the Mr Heater "BUDDY' Propane Heater Mod has been removed. If my memory serves me correctly, beside the Adapter that is need to connect the Low Pressure Hose Directly to the "BUDDY" Heater. The only other concvern was to be very careful where you have to take the "Buddy" Heater apart, if you go strong and to hard, you will breaak the tabs that holds it together. If any of you that I sent a Link to the Buddy Heater Mod, stil has it, it would be great if you would post it for other to read. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

I use mine outdoors only.
What difference would it make to operate it off of a 1# canister or a 20# tank as long as the 20# tank is outside? As with any non-venetd heater you also need to provide some fresh air.

I did not modify my Buddy heater in any way to use in on the RV low pressure LP. I can still screw on a 1 pound canister and use it if I choose to do so. I simply have a hose that connects to where the 1 pound canister goes and the other end goes to the low pressure system (as described in my original post).

Hi All.
Well, lets see. Since I have done this Mod and have also used a couple of Mr Heater "BUDDYS" for many years now, I do question how your using your "Buddy Heater" on the Low Pressure Line from your RV. By all logic it should not work. Why because just tappinig into your RV Low Pressure Line with a Tee and connecting it to the "Buddy" Heater, you still have the Low Pressure Line connected to your "Buddy" Heater which still has the High Pressure Regualtor in it. This subject has come up many times on people who want to run their High Pressure BBQ's offf the Low Pressure Lines on their RV's. It can't be done, as you can not run both a High Pressure Regulator on the BBQ, and then feed it with a Low Pressure Hose from your RV's Low Pressure Line. It just doesn't work. What people have had to do, was to remove the High Pressure Regulator from the BBQ, and add an adapter if needed, and then add a Low Pressure Line to the BBQ from their RV. If yours works, it can't be workinng correctly, and I almost bet your not putting out enought BTU's for it to work correctly. Many other have stated on this Fourm before, that you can't run two different Regualtors (One High Pressure & One Low Presssure Regulator) on any one item. Maybe I am missing something, but I sure don't see how your Mr Heater "BUDDY" could be working with two different Regualtor in line. A Low Pressure Regulator in your RV's System won't feed a High Pressure regulator on the "BUDDY" Heater. Unless you Teed in before the Low Pressure line? Which you said you Teed into your Furances Low Pressure Line. Would you care to expalin a bit more. I'm not trying to be a smart Butt, but I'm just trying to understand how it could work, wiht two Regulators in line. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
ryanallie1, so are you saying that sonicsix is either lying or delusional?
I don't see a problem and am willing to take his word for it. It makes sense to me that it would still work. I don't know what pressure the internal regulator is set at but, if the RV regulator reduces it to 11" and it is designed to work on 11" then the internal regulator won't do anything other than maybe causing a little restriction to flow.

I am in a Class C motorhome. The LP regulator is attached to the tank and the one and only line runs out from there. My furnace is near the back of the RV in the kitchen area, just below the refrigerator. A copper LP line feeds the furnace so where it was connected to the furnace, I disconnected it and inserted a "tee". From the tee I connected a hose that has a 3/8" flare at the tee and an LP quick disconnect (see original post for type) on the other end. I have another hose that attaches to that quick disconnect on one end and on the other end is a fitting that screws onto the Buddy heater where a 1 pound bottle would go.
I can connect this up, turn on the gas and run the Buddy heater just fine. If you were sitting in my RV enjoying my heater on a cold day, would you still say it won't work?
