Iv'e got three Drainmaster dump valves on my rig and due to the way Cedar Creek installed them they are prone to fail,it's actually funny because Drainmaster started putting lables basically saying "This Side Up" to idiot-proof them but even the dealer couln't get it and re-installed them the same way. i called today to see about getting them re-built and was promptly told no,then i told him they were not even a year old and was told to see my dealer (kinda' hard to do while i'm in bloody florida)however he suggested i purchase their NEWLY RE-DESIGNED valves with swiss-made pecision gearing and at that point i declined,i'll leave them open until i get back home and R@R them then,,,WITH MANUAL VAVLES!!
Thanks for nothing Drainmaster!!

Seems like a Cedar Creek problem. You might want to talk to them about finding a dealer that will help you by installing them correctly. Especially since Drainmaster is careful to make sure they are installed correctly. But CC or their dealer is not following their directions.
Have they really failed? Or are you expecting them to fail? At any rate, I would not recommend leaving your black tank valve open all the time. You need water in there to dissolve the solids. Otherwise, it will harden and clog up the drain pipe.

We also had problems with our gray tank electric dump valves. And not the only people with this problem. We went to the factory early this year and had them switched with manual dump valves.
The Electric valves either wouldn't open or wouldn't close. We had trouble with only the gray tank dump valves.
but had both of them switched with manual valves.

We had a Cedar Creek Day Dreamer too and both grey valves would stick open or closed and were very unreliable. We left the grey tnaks open all the time and I suppose even though I operated the valves back and forth several times each week, they probably got crud in the track from water/waster dripping through. When I was at the factory, I had them install a manual valve on the end of the sewer pipe "just in case" when it was only 1 week old and had to go back to the factory. Little did I know then I would be living with this problem until I finally FIXED THE STICKING VALVES!!!! Got rid of them.....in fact got rid of the entire trailer and got a Mobile Suites instead.
Absolutly NO problem with our Daydreamer,we love the heck outta' it,Forest River has offered to R@R the valves to manual when i want and considering i'm not under warranty you have to like their commitment to their product,as far as the valves and Drainmaster are concerned i've already put the new ones in i just wanted them to re-build or replace the ones that failed ten months ago and they refused saying a lot of bunk (and man does this guy go on and on) about how it's the manufacturer and dealer who's at fault even though its HIS product failed after ten months of use, give me a break. Forest river was at fault originally by installing these usless valves sideways instead of straight up or ten and two causing the valve to build up residue and causing a jam,add that to lousy choice of gear materials and it's just a problem waiting to happen. After talking to Forestriver they told me there were no concerns from Drainmaster about installing them horizontally when they built my rig and after problems started cropping up that they (pardon the pun) Dumped Drainmaster from their product line.
I got great service from Drain Master when having trouble with our black tank valve just after we started fulltiming. Carriage replaced two valves in a matter of a month.
The rv manufacturers don't install the valve per the valve manufacturers specs!! Try tipping the valve stem up as far as possible to verticle. Mine are probably 15 degrees above horizonal, but seem to be working very well for the last year or more.

First Cedar Creek did install the valves incorrectly. As the valve manufacturer we have no control over the way the RV manufacturer installs them. You stated your valves were working fine and may be prone to fail, but not due to the Drain Master valve. We warrant our products when installed in accordance with our directions. We are complimented on a daily basis for our great customer support. Give me a call if you would like to discuss your needs further.
Well "Dumper Dan" the two valves that needed to be re-built were not even one year old,i did not mention that all three valves have been replaced three times thus far under my extended warranty and i was looking to get the two re-built to keep in case of future failure since i'm away from my local dealer for the winter but was told flat out NO,and again Forest River told me that when they put in my valves there were no issues about weather they were installed vertically or horizontally, that only became an issue when they started getting complaints about YOUR PRODUCT failing! Had the person at drainmaster said "ship them here and we'll be happy to refurbish them" i would have no axe to grind but that was not the case so here we are. I'm glad in your opinion your company has such a sterling customer support history but for me drainmaster valves are not a product that i would ever reccomend and i'm sure you know when you get a few fiver' owners together around the firepit things like faulty electric dump-valves and the lack of customer support enevitably comes up and as the ol' saying goes "Do a good job and they'll tell ten people,do a lousy job and they'll tell a hundred" and so on and so on.
