Winter camping is here again, and the furnace is cranking out the heat as expected. One catch, it gets pretty squeaky; a high pitched whining noise as it blows the air. Funny how the day time doesn’t seem to have the same issue as night time…

I’ve done some online research and the advice seems to be to replace the Motor. Anyone here have luck with fixing their squeaky furnace? I am about to dig into this and was hoping to find some photos online of the work.

The furnace is an Artwood/Hyrdo Flame 8531 II. A couple places sell the replacement motor; any favorite online stores?

the fan on the end of the motor usually has only bushings not bearings so once they start to go they are gone you can try putting some lube o as a tempoary fix but replacemant is the only long term repair I have replaced mine it is not a big job.

Thanks Bob, I think you are right. I want to fix this for good so i think i will try to get the motor out.

I found the following link that gave some details on how to replace the motor without pulling the entire furnace - thank goodness!! So far the instructions seems pretty accurate. I am off to buy a longer allen wrench to get the squirrel cage off...
