In purchasing my first MH...2006 Forest River Charleston 400QS DP the salesman is suggesting an extended warranty, which I do agree having one. My question is the one he would like to sell me is an EasyCare Warranty-the "TotalCare" package. Three years 36,000 miles for $5200.00. Anyone have any thoughts/concerns/opinions on this package?
Thanks for your time

Joe

Read the T&C's VERY carefully and then tell the sales guy to cut the price in half.

Read the exclusions portion very carefully, what you want is a non exclusionary policy where seals, hoses, ect are covered. My policy covers everything except comestic items like paint, chrome, glass and interior items such as cabinets. I bought one when I bought my 2006 Revolution LE in 2006 after the dealer was pushing it. I have a 7 year/100,000 policy and the dealer was trying to sell it for $4000. I got them to include the policy as part of the sell. I have used it several times without any problems they have always paid the claims. Just make sure you get pre-approval for any covered repairs. My RV service center said I had gotten one of the better policies and he really dislikes Good Sams CSP since he said they always try to blame it on wear and tear or something else to keep from paying. Be careful they are good ones and really bad ones out there. I would ask around and talk to a few different service managers and see what they think is a good extended warranty service contract company. Good Luck

$5200.....how much is dealer getting for selling you that 'deal'?

Check into it yourself and compare/read coverages/what is not covered

Usually dealers double the cost of the plan. Easy profit margin for the selling dealer.

3 years or 36,000 miles... hmm.

I think I'd take that $5200, put it in a separate account to be used for repairs as needed. After 3 years or 36,000 miles is up, put whatever is left back in your pocket. Pretty sure you'll end up ahead in the deal, unless you've run into some real bad luck. They don't sell extended warranties if they think you'll come ahead in that deal - there always seems to be a way for them to deny a claim.

We purchased Extra Ride,4 years 48,000Miles for $5000. You can shop around as the prices very between dealers. We are extremley happy with the service and the coverage from extra ride. The service manager where I take the coach to says it is the best company he has worked with in regards to coverage and the no hassel pay. Check them out before you sign on the dotted line.
