My old 1975 Perris Valley camper is still going strong, even though I don't have it anymore. My 1988 Lance is doing fine also. All of the appliances still work fine in both units.

Answer is similar to how long is a piece of string? If kept well will last 40 plus years.

my Coachmen just hit 40. I'm the second owner and it's been well maintained and never garaged. Just like anything else if you keep up with the maintenance and repair the small things before they become big things then you can expect it to last.

I recently purchased a 74 Roadranger that is in absolute mint conditon. Used very little and garaged for years.
It is in better shape than the Caribou I sold last year.

I don't think you grow out of them either. When our kids got to be around 10 or 12 they didn't want to stay in the camper with mom and pop and always set up a tent. Eventually they all get real big and don't even go camping with you anymore.

but, you'd be truly amazed how many kids, grandkids, and dogs can sleep comfortably in a TC when a big rain blows through!

Interesting. I guess I can always let the kids pitch a tent or sleep in the truck once they are old enough to notice they are cramped.
Based on your comments, I will not assume the camper will give out before we outgrow it.

My Avion is 46 years old, but is basically all new on the inside. We downsized to the camper due to where we live now, requires a 12 to 14 hr ferry ride to get off the island, and they charge by the foot. So my family of 6 is "making" the TC work. Two kids in the cab for now, but come summer they will probably spend some time in a tent, vice the Cab. We figured why spend so much on a newer rig, and ferry fees, when we can cozy up, and get some real family memories in the truck and TC. So far it has worked well. Plus it looks like this summer I'll be down one kid, since he has been hired to work at a fishing camp "set-net" site here in Alaska. So 5 in the truck and TC will be alittle easier. Get out and enjoy the maneuverability and flexibility of a TC camping, and you'll love it. We do! (but we have also enjoyed 2 TT's and 2 MMH's).

I think it'll work. I grew up camping with a family of six packed like sardines in a tent--my kids ought to learn that a mattress is a luxury, right?
