Happy New year all! My inlaws recently purchased a 2007 Bigfoot motorhome. It did not come with any owners manual. There is a switch by the door that says "scare". I can't for the life of me figure out what that switch controls. Anyone have any ideas?

Also, does anyone know where I can locate a 2007 Bigfoot owners manual (not the manuals for appliances such as refridgerator or range but something that covers items specific to the motorhome - such as what the scare switch does)?

Thank you.

What are scare lights? I thought about that but nothing came went on/off when the switch was toggled.

It is probably for "scare lights", which are very annoying large bright lights mounted on the outside of the coach to "scare" intruders away.
IMO, the main thing they do is light up the area so the intruder won't trip over something, and light up the neighbor's bedroom.
I don't even use my amber porch light. I figure if somebody comes sneaking around, he can take his chances. If he trips and breaks his head, serves him right!
If that is what the "scare switch" does, do the world a favor and leave it OFF!
Unless, of course, you are sitting outside and have a need for the lights.

As for the Owners Manual, good luck. If you do luck out and find one, chances are you will be VERY disappointed. Usually, the manufacturer makes one generic book for ALL the models they produce, so there is very little good information in it.
You could try putting a "wanted" ad in the local shopper paper, or on craigslist, or search eBay.
Again, good luck.

It is those obnoxious lights that many folks feel the need to leave burning all night. the name of these lights is "Scared lights" implying that if you're "scared" of the dark you use them

Thanks. I was wondering what those two lights were for. Thing is they don't come on so either they are burnt out or breaker has tripped or the previous owner took the bulbs out.

What genius thought of scare lights? You would think the mfgr would cut out the cost and call the regular outdoor lights "scare lights".

Thank you.

Go outside and look up high on either side of the RV for a 6 or 7" round white light. That is a SCARE light. It could be that the previous owner took the bulb out so it does'nt come on with that switch. If the bulb is out I suggest you leave it out. All those lights do is annoy the next door camper.
