Hey, it looks like we are finally getting snow. 31.8* and its been trying to snow for a few hours, got about an inch so far, maybe winter will arrive tonight.

I live about 5 miles from mountainkowboy. As I backed my truck and camper up my driveway to tuck it away under the RV port when I got home yesterday from my Arizona trip (pics and blog later) it began to snow. Timing is EVERYTHING! We've got a little less than an inch. It's still 32 degrees outside, but the sky is clear and the sun is coming up, so.....

Our weekend getaway home is about 300 miles North of Dak and Mountainkowboy and usually has the longest ski season in the West, sometimes until forth of July. This year it has been very dry and they are still measuring in inches instead of feet. Last few days have produced more but not the usual 12-16 feet we usually have by this time. Looks like Hwy 120 between the central valley and the East side of the Sierra will open before the target date of May 30, maybe for the April opener of trout season.

Most of the ski areas are reporting less than 5' of base in Colo., One is at 90" and Wolf Creek IIRC is at 98"s.

So we've got a ways to go for 'normal' run off.

We pretty much had normal winter at my camp though at home in the Toronto area we have barely enough to cover the grass. Guess there is only so much to go around and Europe and Asia have it this year. Photo and video of what greeted my Jan 21. Hopefully will be an easier drive this weekend. (near the end of the video you can see my camper covered and my mom's with just a tarp.

(of all the forums I am on this is the toughest one to post photo's I spend all the time to resize to under 640x480 and it still rejects?)

Had snow yesterday and may have flurries tonight. We probably have 5-6" here. More in places throughout the yard where it's drifted. The deer have worn trails all over the yard.

My house near Mountainkowboy's is in sort of a micro climate. I always get more snow and/or rain than my friends just 2-3 blocks up the street. I measured it on my deck when I got home from work today (now THAT was an adventure!) and I've got 7" as of this writing and it's still snowing, but not a lot now. Yes, winter has officially arrived here in the So Cal mountains... FINALLY!
