Again, I said SOMETIMES ...

Does ones distain for a loud generator make their generator-less camping style superior? It appears that some think that way.

I'll put it in simple terms.

It's not that we think our camping style is superior, it is that the noise of loud generators is RUINING our camping experience. We don't want the loud generator noise. It's as simple as that.

If you must have electricity while camping, for God Sakes, buy a quiet generator that won't drive your neighbors nuts.

What does superiority have to do with it? You obviously have your own superiority/inferiority issues to work through here if you cannot consider the concept of consideration for your neighbors without feeling personally judged or diminished.

Here's a novel concept for you to grasp.....it's not always about you buddy

Exactly ... the generator-less campers seem to think it's all about them because it's them that have to exercise the tolerance that they don't like to have to do - and they readily let you know about it, too.

BTW and for the record - I have three ways of creating electricity if my adequate batteries ever run low when camping: One quite quiet properly installed large built-in generator, one very quiet red colored portable generator, and one idling chassis engine you cannot hear 15 feet away.

I admit that I have little patience for folks who can't tolerate my rare and slight generator noises but expect me to tolerate their constant and unbending desire for silence.

atreis,

Very well written and well thought-out long post of yours above! An excellent oasis of reason in the desert around us.

as a brief follow up,i have ZERO problems with QUIET generators, i own and run one of the red ones(H)myself as needed and make every attempt to minimize the noise so as not to disturb my fellow campers.however,i do not feel i have the God given right to run it any time/way i so desire(all day/night)irregardless of how it might effect others.

i also have a radio but i don't expect everyone to enjoy the same type/volume as i do,thus the volume is set for my ears only.

i don't own or take a barking dog camping, why would anyone? DUH!!!

i neither desire or expect silence, again DUH!! get real folks but i do expect people to be reasonable.

hope everyone has a great camping season!!!!!

Our 1000 Watt Yamaha is the quietist small generator made yet it's very noisy for us and so rarely used.

Perhaps the annoyance factor of any generator relates to the hearing ability or lack there of with it's neibours and owners.

Truck campers and Boondocking can minimize ones generator noise problems.

No generator noise here in Arizona.

No generator noise here in Florida.

No generator noise here in Georgia.

No generator noise here in Wyoming.

I think Natures noise or quite should be treasured these days.

JM2¢W - there are always going to be inconsiderate people out camping. They always seem to like smokey campfires and loud construction style generators (and they procreate ).

ok, I can't seem to figure out how to quote the post without it coming back an error.

Where was that in Arizona? What gorgeous spots you've found! Everywhere we went, there were tons of people. We just went by BLM maps.

Changing topics for a moment here - that is an awesome campsite! Where is it? Is it on the Green River?

Sort of. It's just South of the Firehole campground on Flaming Gorge reservoir.
Which of course dams the Green River. I just found this spot more attractive than the Campground. Spent the night.

If I had just been a little quicker with the camera those cliff's would have been highlighted in the setting sun. Rats! Rats!
