Fiver = no screwing around trying to align a hitch with a ball, no muscleing WD tension bars, no attaching sway controls.

Went down the fiver route for more storage, easier to hook-up, higher ceiling, pulls better. Really, It is just a personal preference. I'm sure for all the benefits I list a TT owner would have just as many.

We have a TT and recently looked at trading it in on something else. Fifth Wheels were put on the table as an option and after much looking and consideration we have decided we enjoy our TT much more than anything we have found (new or used). It's a 30ft KZ Spree with two pop outs and gives us a lot of space and comfort for a very affordable price that we haven't been able to beat. I haven't owned a FW so I can't say I wouldn't enjoy it just as much but love my TT too much to find out just yet. Good luck!

PS..I'm the wife and I hitch it, tow it, take care of it and handle all matters regarding camping so as far as I'm concerned TT are very user friendly.

which do you prefer and why?

My two biggest reasons were, in order, 1) easier towing and 2) more space.

I've had pick-up campers, hybrid's, TT, and 5th wheels. The downside to the 5th wheel is the loss of the truck bed. I used to have a cap on the truck where the dog would ride along with other items. What I like about the 5th wheel:
#1 The 5th tows better WAY better
#2 More room
#3 Under the pin storage for bikes and things.
#4 Easier to hookup and unhook
#5 They look cooler

Maybe I'm just different but the #1 reason we went 5th wheel was it is way shorter than a TT with the same size living space. Storage is great, tows good, and easy to hitch up. I don't need the DW anymore to hitch up.

We dry camp at state and fed parks so keeping short was important to us.

I've had two TT's. One with a Hensley and the other with a Pullrite so tow ability was never an issue and I liked having the truck bed with a cap for storage. When I retired and went semi-Fulltime I first looked for TT's but there just aren't that many high end choices with the kind of features I wanted. I ended up with a 5er.

Besides reading what you get here, I suggest that you do a search for the same topic. You will get about a month's worth of reading. After towing both, I strongly suggest a 5th wheel over any TT just for the stability.
