We travel in a 34 ft. motorcoach and never have stopped in the Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, or Destin area. We know there are some great parks but we would like to be next to water for a few days when we come back thru that area. Any suggestions? Norm Waddell where are you when we need you?

Henderson Beach State Park in Destin has huge, private sites that will take any sized rig. There is a boardwalk to the beach. You would never know that you are only 1/2 mile from the main road through Destin; it is totally serene and peaceful. The cost was ~$30/night for electric and water.

Camping on the Gulf in Destin which is right on the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf Shores State Park in Alabama has some sites on the water.

Henderson is very popular. We tried for march and no space. Best to check the website and make reservations.

Nathan, you didn't say when you were going. Gulf Shores state park in Gulf Shores and Top Sail in Destin would be my two top choices. Depending on when you are going, either one can be tough to get into. I have a week reserved in Top Sail for April that I made in this past September. When I made the reservation, there were just a few sites available to pick from.

Henderson Beach State Park is just down the road from Camping on the Gulf and one-third the price. We've stayed at C on the G but at $100/night IMHO it's a bit over the top.
