At the RV Show a number of the dealers were advertising electric stabilzers that will totally lift a TT off the wheels. It would seem the frame would have to be a lot stiffer and this is something that seems not to be an after market add on.

Are the manufacturers promoting the strength of the stab jacks AND the frame? Or, could they be advertising what their jacks CAN do but the fine print says don't do it because the frame will fail?

I would not make that a common practice on any RV. I have them on my North Trail and love them, but stabilizing only. Level front to back with tongue jack, now electric for my convenience.

The new "Denali" had the electric jacks and we have seen a "North Trail" with them. I think there may have also been a "Dutchmen" with them. The "Denali" self-leveled at little at a time over a 5 minute period. One wheel could actually spin it was so high.

My new V-Lite 21WRS came w/ elec. stabilizers. They specfically state NOT to raise the TT off the ground. They are mean't to be used same as the others, just easier.

Were salesmens mouths moving? If so, be careful.

Those ARE available for retrofit, I've seen them. Ones I saw said they were for stabilization. Would they lift a wheel off? Very likely. Would it cause frame problems? Very likely on most TT's.

I have electric stabilizing jacks.
It says "DeWalt" on the side and doubles as a battery operated drill-motor. It works great switching my snow tire wheels from my summer tire wheels, also.

Don't try to level or lift the trailer with stabilizers. Those things are cheap and will fail. My wife's uncle is a know it all. He got a new trailer and leveled his camper with an electric impact and his stabilizers. I told him that I didn't think that's what those were made for. He knew it would be alright. We were sitting under his awning a few hours later, and all hell broke loose. The rear stabilizer gave way, and so did the front one soon after. The trailer was crooked, off the blocks on one side, and he needed a new pair of underwear. It scared the mess out of us all. It cost him several hundred dollars to fix the trailer, as the warranty would not cover "stupidity" as the dealership told him. He also left his awning out and the wind ripped it off the trailer, but that's a whole other story.
