I found out the hard way ONCE. Usually mine barely fits though the antenna hits every cross member. At home, the camper shell lightly scrapes every time I go in or out.

It is not the flat part you need to worry about, it is when you start to go down! I've had 3-4" of clearance, only to drag the rear of the ladder rack as the front dips down, the rear rises up.....

x2. Just because you can get through the entrance to a parking garage doesn't mean you can make it up or down the ramps. The angle of your truck changes the clearance. I was inside a buddy's one week old Excursion when we went into a parking garage. First level no problem, going to the second level he wedged it into the roof. We had to let air out of the tires and get extra guys to stand on the running boards before we could back it out.

My 2010 Dodge is about 6'2" high. Unless the garage says 7' clearance I won't go in, and then I am very careful going to a different level (up or down).

I have a 2011 F250 4x4 with 20" tires. I just stay out of parking garages unless they have over-sized parking.

Not sure why the parking garages in some areas don't have a gauge before you enter. I don't think there are any around here that don't have them! They are set about 6" lower then the lowest spot of the park garage. If you hit it you should not go into the garage, if you do it's on you if your vehicle is damaged or damages the garage.

Be aware: some garages are not rated for the WEIGHT of a HD diesel pickup. I have seen one rated for 6500lbs, both my F350's comfortably topped that!

I park in a garage at work every day. Got used to it. Then went in a garage in Charleston, SC. Damn, that was a close fit. Antenna did some scraping, was hoping that the clearance lights we're not next. Had to back out of one, people behind us were NOT happy. Went around, had to park in the "RV" slot as we couldn't get up the ramp to the rest of the parking. Would 7' clearances really kill them building garages? How do emergency vehicles and tow truck access those structures?

My truck will not fit in the parking garage at work. So when I drive it, I have to park on the top, which has a different access. Other peoples trucks, including a brand new F150 with 4x4 fits fine. But my 250 4x4 stock doesnt...

Thanks for the input. I've noted some new "green" LED lights that look to be lower than the old ones in the last few months. Also a panic button and rotating light in a couple places. I guess I'll be switching to a parking lot space and have to wait on security for a ride now.

I got stuck at the airport parking once. Entered and it said 7'2" minimum clearance.

They were doing work to the exit, so they made a temporary asphalt ramp out another opening of the concrete structure. The ramp was such that the clearance was reduced to about 6'6". (my truck is 6'8" tall)

I was stuck with about 5 to 10 cars behind me. I got out and aired down the tires to get out (took about 10 minutes)

In that time, Airport Police were on the scene and threatening to detain me (for what?).

Every single time I go to the airport, I get stopped for "secondary inspection". I'm told that it's random and that they don't profile. However, in secondary, the inspector told me, "We don't profile, but if you don't want to get inspected every time, take the tonneau cover off your truck".

HOW IS THAT NOT PROFILING?

What were we talking about again? Why is everything so red? It's hot in here....

(moral of story: My marked antennae saved my butt!)

Ok, I feel better now.
