Hey guys, I am in the market for a good hand held GPS. My phone is not cutting it. I have already lost good mapping of a few runs. What is a good middle of the road ex:Garmin (hand held), to be able to take with me while I map runs, riding trails, fishing holes, and hunting spots and be able to connect to PC for uploading. I know it's a lot, but I am open to suggestions. Remember, hand held, I don't want a big brick to carry around.
Thanks in advance,
Brooks

I have a Delorme Earthmate GPS that I've been happy with. The Topo Software works great and easy to sync using it. That said I wish mine had a larger screen, after getting used to the screen on my iPhone the screen on my Delorme just seems small.

This aint what you want to hear I know. DW wanted to see that river walkin thing by the Alamo in San Antone. I just took my Garmin Mtorcycle GPS out the truck and stuck it in my jacket so it wouldnt get stolen in the parking lot. Well damn if that thing didnt come in handy finding all thru the Alamo, the resturants and ferry points and finding my way back to the truck even. It is a brick but the screen size was a definate plus for my eyes.

I believe the Garmin 76 is a little cheaper than the 60.
definatly look at the screen size, it makes a difference trying to read it while moving. I have a Garmin Legend CX and it works fine, just too small of a screen for these old eyes.

A good small handheld unit at a good price.

There are more complicated/featured units but this one is reliable and not too expensive if destroyed in a "yard sale" event.
Hardwire the unit too, if using on an off-road bike.

I use the Garmin Dakota 20 and it has been great. I use it for geocaching, mountain biking (small enough to mount to bars), and finding soccer fields all over socal. I am currently looking at the Oregon with a little bigger screen.

Our group uses Garmin Rino units. We like the additional feature of the GMRS two way radio built in. I am using a ram mount to mount it to different things so I can use in on multiple toys.

Not a recommendation of what to buy but a recommendation on what not to buy. I have a BombBomb (TomTom) that has given me grief since the day I took it out of the box. Their customer service???? is out sourced to India. You can picture how well that works. I am also in the research phase and my conclusion to this point is Garmin. Two things you may want to put on your want list is lifetime map updates included and a trucker based system. This will deal with height clearance, etc.
