The answer I always give is this, Does the floor plan suit your needs? Engines, transmissions and other "niceties" are problems that come and go depending on the situation at the moment. The floor plan will be with you for as long as you own the rig! If You are completely satisfied with the floor plan and it meets all your current and perceived needs then go for it. But do not think that a small problem with the floor plan will go away, it will only get worse.

I own a Gulfstream Supernova and just like any other manufacturer, you will have fans and enemies of the products they put out.
I've owned my Supernova since May of '08 and it is not perfect by any means. My family consists of DW, son (13), daughter (11), son (6), French Bulldog and English Bulldog. We tow a 20' box trailer full of quads and off road gear.
I bought the best I could with my budget. My 6400N is 40' long and has 2 slides. 1 slide is for the back king bed and the other is a full length slide. I have 2 bathrooms and sleeping accomdations for at least 10.
She is not perfect but I have not had any major repairs other than the roof cracks where the coach meets the truck. I upgraded to an air suspension 3 years later and this was the best modification I have ever done. She used to drive like a truck and was not very comfortable. Now she drives more like a Class A rig that costs much more.
I added a nice Xantrex whole house inverter system. 6-6volt battery bank, in motion satellite all when I was comfortable spending the "coin".
Anyways, enough with my hot air. Here are some pics:
Here she is sitting in the SoCal desert boondocking:

The other side of the rig:

Parked with a friend's Class A and trailer:

Interior shot with the full slide closed. If the slide was open, the bunks would be revealed just rear of the couch on the right hand side:

Interior shot #2:

It's in the very back. It is a full bath in the back. That is what my wife fell in love with and was THE DECIDING FACTOR in purchasing this particular rig.

I was looking at a new Jayco Embark last year. Very nice looking rig, but after climbing around in and underneath, I was not impressed with some construction issues in the way the interior cabinents were mounted, slides were manufactured and the wheel wells were finished. Went with a preowned Dynamax unit instead. Like others have stated, everyone has different opinions and needs. Our DQ36XL has served us very well and I love the way the Freightliner M2 handles with the air suspension and air brakes. Still tweaking a few things here and there. Still waiting for DW to get her class A license so that I don't always have to drive (she already drives our Intl 4700 LP MDT).

Dynamax was way outside of my budget. Even the Supernova was stretching every dime and nickel we wanted to spend. We looked at the Dynamax line but the Embark was not even out yet when we bought. We'd already been renting over 2 years and I could not wait any longer, or should I say, DID NOT want to wait any longer.
I added a whole house 3k watt Sine Inverter and 6-6v battery bank which is one of the best bangs for the buck upgrades I have done. We can use the microwave, tv's, charge stuff etc, etc. without the genny being on. The Auto-Gen start makes it idiot-proof.
I added an in motion satellite which keeps the kids calm during the ride to and from.
I added the air ride 3 years later. The M2 would've been an upgrade on the International and the torquier motor would've been nice.
Plam on replacing the front shocks with some KING shocks and adding a power chip and exhaust this year sometime.
I read another topic where someone was waiting for the next model before buying. Another poster said if you wait for the latest and greatest, you'd never buy anything.
So far the Supernova far exceeds what we need it for. I hate RV shows because of all the new rigs coming out, but that is what DW is for. To remind me to not get in over our heads!!!
Buy the best you can for the money and don't look back. Get it home, learn what you can and drive it 'til the wheels fall off...NOT LITERALLY!
Let us know what you end up getting.
