As soon as you re-post it, it goes to the top of the list where it will be seen when you first click on that category. If you don't re-post it stays on but will not be seen unless you do a search for a specific item. I've sold a lot of things on Craigs'. I almost always get new inquiries right after I post something.

The ads do not stay active indefinitely. That doesn't even make any sense. But I did some checking and it does vary by market. The major markets across the US expire the classifieds after 7 days. I checked in MN where you are, and as of today the oldest ads are Dec 6th, so they last longer in some markets.
But the point is, if you want to be seen by casual browsers, renew your ad so it stays near the top. If you want to be seen by folks who are searching for specific items, word your advert very carefully and renew it before it expires.
If you have an account on Craigslist, log into your account and check your old ads. They will be listed as expired or active. You can simply click Repost and renew for the next term. That replaces your old ad with a fresh copy. You don't want to try to write a new advert, because they very agressively filter duplicates. You can trick the filter by rewording sometimes. But the right way to do it is reposting through the account manager.

No Mike, I got a chance to buy a Trailer Saver at a great price and could not resist it.

Thanks all for all your suggestions. I may try eBay if I can determine the shipping price.

If it helps in pricing, I paid $440 for my Curt 20k about a year ago. I would expect shipping to be pretty pricy. Another option to Craigslist is Ebay Classified (similar to CL). That's what sold my last trailer.

Youy can specify pick up only on EBay. It may limit your customers but if someone close by is willing to come get it, it might be worth a shot.
