I cannot help smiling when I read the 'tow vehicle' forum.

Firstly there are thousands of posts that rightly advise that when considering weight ratios TT to TV, always allow for some 'spare capacity.'

Now we have a culture growing re. the Ecoboost engine strength that is advising the opposite in terms of 'spare engine strength' when towing a TV?
These Ecoboost (only 3.5L) engines are useless without the TURBO when towing.
So that inherently means that the turbo is probably running at near 100% output most of the time the TV is pulling a TT.

I predict that this time next year on this forum.........

'Read all about it......Ecoboosts Turbos begin to fail!'

I await the first posting on here, of how some one limped along over hills and down dales with a FAILED TURBO and a 3.5L engine struggling to get them home????

Did you see the torture test one of the test was pulling 11300 pounds on a racetrack at full trottle and full boost for 24 hrs straight only stopping for tires and gas.

Curious... why should these turbos fail quicker then those on the diesels? If it fails on a diesel won't it limp along also? I predict when your engine fails you won't be limping along but instead will be stranded along the road side.

Me thinks me smell a troll!

Why would you make a post like this? Really?

This is nothing but an attempt to start a rant from someone who has a different brand vehicle.

"Torture test" really? Running at WOT is not a big deal and the Ford Engineering Dept knows that! That is why they let the test happen in the first place. If they turly wanted to "Torture test" the EcoBoost simulate stop and go traffic and see how long it survives with 11,300# hooked to the back.

Nope I agree with the OP, it's only time until these things start coming apart. It's a great engine for light loads or in a car but as a TV nope not going to work. Hope all the EcoBoost Gennie Pigs don't get burned by Ford like the 6.7 guys are starting to experience.
