When push comes to shove, what the owner's manual states is probably what is going to happen. Does the owner's manual address the subject of warranty? If the RV manufacturer says it has a "certain" warranty, and GM says differently, then the RV manufacturer may be the one picking up the bill I would say. Sounds like a mess that we all would hate to get caught up in, but they do happen.

I assume you are referring to the Workhorse chassis, not GM. GM has not built a motorhome chassis since 1998. The warranty on a Workhorse starts on the date and milage on the odometer at the date of purchased by the first owner and is transferable.
If you are the owner of record, registered with Workhorse, you will find all the information on the warranty at http://workhorse.com listed under "My Motorhome"

If you are not registered you shoud do so.

Are you SURE about this? The Workhorse name went on some C Class units (they consulted with GM) but Workhorse made it very clear (even on its web site) that it was not responsible for warranty and was not stocking parts.

If you purchased the RV with over a thousand miles on the clock you purchased a used RV so the new vehicle warranty would be back in the hands of the manufacturer. Not sure WHAT they would say about purchasing a "demonstrator" which is probably closer to what you purchased unless it had been titled in someone elses name previously. If it was NEW I suspect it would be the date it was transferred to the retail purchaser.

Mine had over a thousand miles on it when I bought it new, and no it was not used and was not a demo. When they are assembled in Elkhart, the have to get here somehow. I was picking up my RV from the dealer the other night and saw some Amish children playing in the grass. At first I thought it was odd, being that they would probably not be buying an RV, but then I figured that they may have brought an RV down to the dealer and were waiting for a ride back.

As far as warranty goes, warranty starts on the day you take ownership and mileage starts as well. If I had 1000 miles on the odometer when I bought it, then my warranty runs out at 37000 miles. The same thing goes for a car.

Thanks Guys,
Yes its a C class, Coachmen Freelander 21QB. Brand new as at Dec 2010 with 1100 delivery miles. Haven't seen anything about a delayed warranty but I now feel empowered to kick ass at Chevy or Coachmen (or anyone that might make a difference!

In my case, the dealer filled out the "Delayed Warranty Start" with the date I took delivery and the milage on the vehicle. I ordered the MH from the factory and it had 1600 miles on it when I got it.

Leaving out drive train, extended warranties and other exotics, if you buy a new RV on a Chevy chassis, you receive a 3yr/36k miles bumper to bumper warranty. From when though?
Is it from when you buy it - you might think so, the RV dealer and manufacturer will say so, but no.
Chevy say it is from the date and mileage that the chassis is transferred to the RV manufacturer. This means I loose 6 mths and 1,100 miles of warranty and as I am at 36,500 and have issues is going to be a battle.
Am I being unreasonable?

All of our warranties started on the date we took ownership. Mileage was noted and started at that point. I think it was about 1300 miles from Forest City to our dealer.

Same with the four new MH's we have purchased since 2004.

Sounds like a dealer screw up to me. If they didn't fill out the form and give it to you they are the ones' to blame. Not GM or Coachmen.

Thanks all, Dealer has dealt with the 'oversight' and submitted 'Delayed Warrenty info'. Chevy confirmed on the phone that they now have the correct info.
Incidently, took the vehicle in for that bit of work (different dealer) who submitted the warrenty claim on lime and was rejected as the online information had not been updated. Anyway, dealer believed me, took the claim number I received from Chevy and did the work anyway. What a nice guy!
